The City of Isanti Economic Development Authority is the economic development arm of the City and handles all types of city economic development projects. The EDA is engaged in the promotion and coordination of the development, expansion and relocation of businesses of our Community working to achieve City goals of: Increasing Commercial/industrial tax base, marketing and increasing quality job opportunities for Isanti residents. The EDA meets monthly on the 1st Tuesday of each month immediately following the 1st regularly scheduled City Council Meeting of the month in the City Council Chambers.
Shovel Ready Certification
The City of Isanti is proud to announce that it received Minnesota Shovel Ready Certification for the lots in its Commercial/Industrial Business Park.
Business Retention & Expansion
It is our belief that one of Isanti's best sources of economic growth and development is within our existing companies. Consequently, our Mayor and Economic Development Director have been visiting our local companies to build & maintain strong relationships with them. During these visits our main goal is to identify ways that we can help our local companies be successful and grow.
Industrial Park Development
To promote the continued economic growth of the city, the City of Isanti EDA works to ensure that we have industrial park and building space readily available. We have industrial land with City water, City sewer, small utilities, the best access of an industrial park to TH 65 anywhere in the County and great access to CSAH 5 and Interstate 35. Attainment of Shovel Ready Certification has removed hurdles that can delay projects. Isanti is positioned to be able to move your project from start to finish quicker than other communities that do not have Shovel Ready Certification. The BNSF railroad is adjacent to the industrial park giving more options for the transportation needs of the industrial users.
Rail Served Industrial Park
The City of Isanti partnered with Isanti County of a feasibility study for a rail served industrial park. The results of the study named the City of Isanti site as the "best" site in Isanti County. Being outside of the metro area has its advantages for grant opportunities relating to infrastructure installation that metro communites do not have. If you would like to learn more about this excellent opportunity please view the Market and Feasibility Report provided by rail industry expert Charles McSwain.

A strong downtown is the key to a strong community. A lot of our efforts therefore are geared towards maintaining and strengthening Main Street Isanti. Recent Downtown projects include: Isanti Retail Meats, Isanti Bicyle Repair Expansion, Federated Co-op grain elevator demolition and construction of new store. The US Post Office is also located downtown to accommodate your business and personal needs. Long standing businesses such as the Creamery Crossing restaurant, Isanti Family Pathways and Isanti Custom Meats anchor this area of Historic Isanti. In 2013 the City of Isanti re-implemented summer street dances downtown.
